Who’s Green and Who’s Not in Newsweek’s Annual Green Rankings

 

Oklahoma companies and those firms with operations in the state were among those U.S. corporations listed in Newsweek Magazine’s annual Green Rankings.

Boeing, with major operations at Tinker Air Force base in Midwest City was ranked 22nd out of the top 500 global publicly traded companies. Based on the magazine’s annual assessment of sustainability practices and environmental impact factors, General Electric ranked 47. Schlumberger, the energy firm with major operations at El Reno and elsewhere in Oklahoma was listed 69th. Exxon Mobil Corporation was ranked 95th.

Entergy Corporation, the wind farm firm came in 100 while Xcell Energy, another wind firm was ranked 109th. Still another major wind farm operator, Nextera Energy was listed at 113th.

Weyerhaeuser Corporation with operations in southeast Oklahoma was ranked 118th. Coming in at 122nd was Conoco Phillips while Oklahoma City based Devon Energy sits at 164.

Halliburton is 199 while Chesapeake Energy of Oklahoma City sits at 233rd. ONEOK was ranked 281 while Phillips 66 was 297. Energy Transfer based in Dallas was 355 and Williams Partners of Tulsa was 362.

The rankings are made as the result of comprehensive analysis by Newsweek, Corporate Knights Capital and an advisory board of representatives of nongovernmental, academic and accounting organizations.
