Summons Served in Lawsuit Over Tarcreek Superfund Buyout Audit

Updating the open records lawsuit filed by a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit watchdog against the state over the Tar Creek Superfund buyouts, the case has been assigned an Oklahoma County District court judge.

The Campaign for Accountability filed suit in late November against Attorney General Mike Hunter and Oklahoma Auditor and Inspector Gary Jones, accusing them of violating the state’s open records law.

It had sought records from the state and been denied, so it filed suit.

Hunter followed the steps of former Attorney General Scott Pruitt in also not releasing an audit of the public Trust that handled the buyouts of homes and businesses in the Tar Creek Superfund site.

Court documents show Judge Patricia G. Parrish has been assigned the case. They also indicated that summons were properly served on Auditor Jones and Attorney General Hunter.

No hearings have been scheduled in the case.
