Nebraska to Hold Another Keystone XL Pipeline Hearing

The Nebraska Public Service Commission will hold another hearing Tuesday on the Keystone XL pipeline.

Oral arguments will be heard on motions filed by developer TransCanada, landowners and others to have the Commission reconsider its ruling on the pipeline.

TransCanada wants the Commission to “clarify” the decision to reject the company’s “preferred” route in favor of a “mainline alternative” route. But the landowners, tribes and environmentalists want a reconsideration for other reasons. They’re fighting the pipeline and want to force TransCanada to file a new application as it seeks the “Mainline Alternative” route chosen by the Commission.

The Mainline Alternative route was never formally applied for by TransCanada and did not receive direct consideration as the Commission reviewed the proposed line.

Tuesday’s hearing will not include any cross-examination but Commissioners will ask questions of attorneys. A decision will not be reached during the hearing.
