City of Sapulpa Gets Major Federal Water Grant

The city of Sapulpa is getting a $1.5 million grant from the federal government to improve its water system.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said the Department’s Economic Development Administration awarded the money to make critical water infrastructure improvements needed to support business development and expansion in the region.

In making the announcement, the Department estimated the project will create 1,515 jobs and attract $813 million in private investment to the city.

The project will include the construction of new waterlines that will stretch across Sapulpa city limits to a local industrial park.  The increased wastewater capacity will also help attract new businesses to the region including a major personal care products company that is expected to establish a headquarters campus.

The project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Indian Nation Council of governments.

“During his campaign, President Trump promised that there would be a new emphasis placed on rebuilding American infrastructure after years of neglect,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “Sapulpa’s improved infrastructure will support Oklahoma’s growing business needs while helping to provide over a thousand jobs to local residents.”
