Williams Seeks Approval for $85 Million Pipeline Project in New York and New Jersey

Tulsa’s Williams Partners L.P. is attempting to get federal approval for a project to meet the growing demand for natural gas by northeastern consumers in New Jersey and New York.

The company’s Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for authorization of its nearly $85 million Gateway Expansion Project so natural gas for home heating can be available for the 2020-2021 winter heating season.

As part of the project, Transco has already signed agreements with PSEG Power LLC and UGI Energy Services LLC for transportation service.

Public Service is New Jersey’s largest provider of electric and gas service serving 2.2 million electric customers and 1.8 million gas customers. UGI supplies and markets natural gas and electricity to about 40,000 customers across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S.

The project will add electric horsepower at an existing Transco compressor station in New Jersey and also make modifications to two existing Transco meter stations.
