Desk and Derrick Club to Hold Annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon in Tulsa

The approaching annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon held by the Tulsa Desk and Derrick Club will feature a discussion on Seismicity in Oklahoma: A Scientifically Informed Status Update.

Dr. Kyle E. Murray of the Oklahoma Geological Survey will present the discussion at the Nov. 8 luncheon at the Summit Club in downtown Tulsa.

His discussion and presentation will also focus on other subjects affecting Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry including production, economic implications on water management, produced water, saltwater disposal, seismic history and mechanisms for induced seismicity.

Murray holds a PhD in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and is a Hydrogeologist for the OGS which is part of the University of Oklahoma Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy.

His research team investigates physical and chemical properties of geologic materials that store and produce fluids, and conducts regional-scale studies of water, earth and environmental resources. The seismic activity of the past few years in Oklahoma prompted Dr. Murray to partner with other geoscientists in better understanding relationships between geologic factors, resource management and seismicity.

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. and reservations can be made online at: reservations@tulsadandd.net.
