Stillwater Gets $4.5 million Grant to Finish Taxi Projects for American Airline Service

The FAA’s awarded a $4.5 million grant to the Stillwater airport so work can be completed on two taxiway projects.

The Fderal Aviation Administration money will enhance the ability of American Airlines to provide commercial service at the regional airport.

Sen. Jim Inhofe, chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure and also a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation committee in the Senate made the announcement.

“As a pilot, I know the value of Oklahoma’s regional airports to our state and the importance of maintaining them in the best condition possible,” said the Senator. “Economic growth begins with infrastructure and I look forward to seeing the benefit this project will have on the city and the surrounding region by enhancing passenger service and general aviation activity.”

Gary Johnson is Airport Director said the money will allow the completion of Runway 17-35 Parallel Taxiway and bypass taxiway project.

“The construction of these two areas of pavement to meet FAA design standards will be critical to the safety of operations for our airline, general aviation and corporate partners,” he said.
