Nation’s Largest Natural Gas Pipeline System Affected by Hurricane Harvey

The people responsible for the big decisions at Williams Cos. in Tulsa have had more than their share of problems over the past week to ten days because of Hurricane Harvey and the flooding.

A big part of the company’s Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line was affected and so were customers thousands of miles away who use natural gas for generating power and home-heating purposes. After all, the pipeline is the largest natural gas pipeline in the U.S. It totals more than 10,000 miles.

As the Tulsa World pointed out, the Transco system starts at operations in Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas….the bulls eye of Harvey.

“We are still assessing the condition of Williams’ onshore and offshore facilities,” said the company in a recent state. “So far, no significant operational issues have been identified. We are starting to see some offshore production starting to come back online.”
