Oklahoma Energy Companies Still Active in North Dakota

 

While oil production slipped in May in North Dakota, it still has the attention of some Oklahoma oil and gas exploration companies.

Oklahoma City-based Continental Resources, according to the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources has four active rigs in the Bakken. Tulsa-based WPX Energy has two rigs while Marathon Oil has at least on rig.

Houston-based Newfield Energy, an active player in Oklahoma’s STACK oil play has six rigs drilling in North Dakota. The state had a total of 58 drilling rigs as of last week.

In May, oil production totaled 1.04 million barrels of oil a day, down from the 1.05 million produced in April. Natural gas production in May was 1.85 billion cubic feet, an increase from the 1.83 billion cubic feet produced in April.
