Making the Case for More Oil and Gas Pipelines

Writing in U.S. News, one man makes the case for more oil and natural gas pipelines, contending they are still the safest way to transport energy.

Charles Hughes, an Opinion Contributor, says despite increases in domestic oil and gas production, the development of transportation energy infrastructure has not kept pace.

“A more robust pipeline infrastructure would make transportation of oil, natural gas and their products more efficient by reducing transportation costs and offering a more reliable mode of transportation,” he wrote. ” A well-developed energy transportation network would also reduce regional price differences.”

He blames concern over pipeline safety for capacity to have fallen behind the growing energy production. And he maintains pipelines have been getting safer over time.
