More Layoffs at ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville?

Employees at ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville may be in for another round of layoffs, according to a report by Newson6.com. Following a $13 billion asset sale of its heavy crude and gas operations in Canada this past March, speculation is running rampant that more jobs will be lost in Bartlesville.

Although specifics aren’t being discussed officially, a company spokesman based in Bartlesville indicated some jobs are being impacted by the sale. Company officials did not discuss whether layoffs were expected at the headquarters location in Houston although one unofficial website reported that some Bartlesville finance jobs will be moved to Houston by the end of the first quarter for 2018. They include general accounting, audit and the tax department.

ConocoPhillips has nearly 13,100 employees companywide, according to recent data provided by the company. ConocoPhillips also announced its quarterly dividend last week.

Company officials say ConocoPhillips has a long history in Bartlesville and remains committed to the local community.
