Erin Brochovich Returning to Oklahoma for Earthquake Forums in June

Erin Brochovich is returning to Oklahoma to host additional community meetings in June. She will be joined by attorneys from the law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg and experts to discuss pending litigation against energy companies. The law firm was responsible for filing lawsuits in Cushing and Pawnee after an increase in seismic activity.

The environmental advocate will visit Stillwater on June 6. Her first appearance will be held at the Oklahoma State University Theater located at 203 Student Union on South Hester Street. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Oklahoma state legislator Cory Williams will speak with residents about their concerns regarding the economic, health and safety aspects of earthquakes caused by fracking wastewater injection.

The following evening, Brochovich will host a forum in Shawnee at the Sarkeys Performing Arts Center on the grounds of St. Gregory’s University located at 1900 West MacArthur Street. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Brochovich’s life was the subject of a Hollywood biopic in 2000 featuring Oscar winner, Julia Roberts.

She continues to advocate on matters involving human-induced earthquakes and other environmental issues. Brochovich has appeared at several earthquake town hall meetings in Oklahoma since last year to speak out about the connection between wastewater disposal wells and earthquakes.

The events are free and open to the public.
