Oil and Gas Rig Counts Grow in Oklahoma and the U.S.

Oil and gas rig counts increased in Oklahoma and the nation in the past week with Oklahoma adding four to reach a total of 122. The U.S. count added 15 to hit 839.

The nationwide count added 10 more oil rigs to reach 672 while the number of gas rigs grew by 5 to hit 165. It means the national count is up 396 compared to one year ago.

Canada’s total rig count slipped by 23 over the past week, falling to 132.

The oil plays saw an increase of four rigs to reach 10 in the Granite Wash in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. The Mississippian added two to reach 8. The Permian Basin in west Texas added 123 to hit 331. The Eagle Ford in south Texas slipped by one to reach 72. The Woodfords in Oklahoma grew to 12 compared to the six reported a year ago.

The total oil and gas rig count in Texas grew by 7 to reach 418. North Dakota remained at 42 while New Mexico added one to reach 51. In  Louisiana, the count reached 60 with the addition of one rig. Colorado remained at 28. The count in Kansas fell by 3 to 28.
