Economic Survey Finds Strong Conditions Exist in Oklahoma and 8 Other Midwestern States

Despite a slight dip in economic conditions in Oklahoma and 8 other states, the latest Mid-America Business Conditions Index is still indicating growth and strength, according to Creighton University economist Ernie Goss.

The overall economic index for the nine Midwest and Plains states dropped to 60.1 in March from 60.5 in February, the first decline in five months.

“Those are still very, very strong numbers,” said Goss in his report. “Now is that anything to be concerned about? No, not at all.”

He says the numbers still point to a healthy regional manufacturing economy.

“I’m still expecting growth in the next three to six months,” he added. His survey of business supply managers covers Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
