Robert Phillips, Grandson of Frank Phillips, Dead at 87

The last surviving grandchild of Frank Phillips, Oklahoma’s renowned oilman, has died.

Robert B. Phillips, age 87, died February 2. Phillips was a longtime Tulsa resident and founder of the Phillips Agency, an advertising and public relations firm. He was the son of John G. Phillips, the only son of Jane and Frank Phillips.

Phillips grew up across the street from his grandparents’ home in Bartlesville. He was a Frank Phillips Foundation board member, serving for more than 30 years. The Foundation operates Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Reserve, an Oklahoma landmark formerly known as the F.P. Ranch. Phillips spent many years visiting his grandfather at the ranch.

Robert Phillips carried on with the family’s philanthropic efforts. He was a longtime ardent supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous and the Tulsa Boys Home, according to The Tulsa World.

Phillips was preceded in death by his three siblings, John G. Phillips Jr., Elizabeth Irwin and Frank Phillips II.

Phillips’ survivors include his three children, Linda Phillips, Randolph Phillips and Brian Phillips; his children’s mother, Marilyn Phillips; and four grandchildren, according to a report in The Tulsa World.

A memorial service for Robert Phillips will be held on April 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Cathedral. A reception will follow at the church.
