Kansas to Get Another Ethanol Plant

ICM

Oklahoma doesn’t have one but Kansas is getting another bio-refinery. The $175 million plant being built by ethanol pioneer ICM is going up in Colwich, a small town at the northwest side of the city of Wichita.

Called ICM Element, the plant will produce 70 million galls a year of ethanol. An estimated 50 permanent jobs will be created when the plant is operational and construction is expected to start this fall. It will also take more than 22 million bushels of corn and sorghum a year. At least 5 million gallons of the ethanol will be produced from cellulosic sources such as switchgrass.
