From one week to the next.  From one day to the next.  Energy companies are not only expanding their exploration of Oklahoma’s STACK play but are reporting more successful wells.

Kingfisher County appears to be the most active with seven wells reported completed by Jan. 30. Houston-based Newfield Exploration Mid-Con Inc. reported a well 7 miles northwest of Kingfisher that produced 1,402 barrels equivalent a day. It was also drilled in September of last year and completion was in November. But the paperwork wasn’t reported until this week.

Staghorn Petroleum LLC, based in Tulsa, has a well located 6 miles northwest of Crescent that is producing 1,122 barrels a day. It was drilled last August.

Marathon Oil brought in a well producing 1,105 barrels daily just one mile west of the city of Kingfisher. The spud date on the Firestone well was last July and completion was made in January 2017.

Other producers in Kingfisher county were reported by Chaparral Energy LLC, Gastar Exploration Inc. and Oklahoma Energy Acquisitions LP.

Devon Energy brought in a 700-barrel-a-day well in Blaine County. It was drilled last summer. Devon also reported a well in Canadian County. So did Marathon Oil Company.

Meanwhile, companies have obtained more drilling permits in Kingfisher county, one by Chesapeake Energy and another by Oklahoma Energy Acquisitions LP.
