Growing Commercial Investments in Oklahoma

A new report by the Oklahoma Commerce Department says the state had $2.2 billion in new investment by companies last year.  Fourteen of the firms were new to Oklahoma.

The total in new investment meant the creation of more than 5,200 jobs. The report says google’s $1.2 billion expansion in Pryor was the largest investment of the year. Progrexion’s decision to hire 500 workers, plus 400 over 5 years is the largest expansion in employment for the year.

Some of the energy-related announcements included Continental Carbon’s expansion and plans to invest $110 million in its Ponca City plant; Tradewind Energy’s expansion of its Chisholm Wind Farm in Garfield County; and an expansion by oil and gas equipment manufacturer Summit ESP LLC in Tulsa.

Others included Marathon Oil and Catoosa Test Facility. One company was Senex Energy Partners, a company made up of former Devon Energy analysts who started their own oil and gas investment company.
