Whether it was a strategy of waiting until oil prices rebounded of a lack of funds, Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy is just reporting the completion of 8 wells in northwest Oklahoma, wells that in some cases were drilled in 2014.

The completion reports, as published on OK Energy Today showed six wells completed in Woods county and two in Alfalfa county.

The two Alfalfa county wells were drilled in July and August of 2015 about 3 miles southwest of the town of Ingersoll. But their completions were not made until November 2016.

In adjacent Woods County, Chesapeake drilled one of its six wells in December 2014 but completion was not made until Oct. 2016. The well is located approximately 10 miles northwest of Alva. Two other wells in the vicinity were drilled in January 2015 with completion in October of last year. Two others with the same drilling and completion dates were about six miles northwest of Alva.

Two wells, located about four miles southeast of Alva had spud dates in January and February of 2015 but the completions were not made until November of last year.

All of the wells are just outside of the popular STACK, the three-county oilplay made up of Blaine, Canadian and Kingfisher counties.
