The Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota isn’t the only energy project hit with legal challenges.

Houston-based Clean Line Energy Partners has run into opposition to build a power transmission line across part of Iowa so the company has withdrawn its application as it waits for a settlement in an Illinois court challenge.

Clean Line wants approval to build a 500-mile line from northwest Iowa into Illinois with the capability of delivering 3,500 megawatts of power. The project was approved by Illinois regulators in 2014 but in August, a state appellate court reversed the decision. The Illinois Supreme Court agreed to review the case, prompting Clean Line Partners to temporarily withdraw its application in Iowa until a court ruling is made.
