The Sierra Club has widened its nationwide fundraising effort on the backs of Donald Trump and the man he has nominated to run the Environmental Protection Agency—-Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt.

“Get ready to be disappointed,”  wrote Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club in his latest email pitch asking for contributions. “We’re launching a massive campaign to pressure the Senate to reject Pruitt.”

He also targeted Heartland Institute and its support of Pruitt, calling it the nation’s leading peddler in climate change denial and quoting the Chicago-based group’s statement about Trump’s nominations—-“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

Brune told recipients of his email message that since Trump nominated Pruitt, thousands have stepped up to fund the Senate fight to reject the nomination.

“Since Trump nominated Pruitt, thousands of you have already stepped up to fund our Senate fight to reject his nomination,” he wrote.

“If we’re going to win, I need you with us now……because how much political pressure we generate will depend directly on (sic) much we raise right now. A generous donor will MATCH every dollar of your gift up to $150,000.”

“No wonder Big Oil loves Scott Pruitt,” argued Brune. “He’s spent years taking the EPA to court. His sole aim: Completely neuter the agency and make it powerless to protect our air, water and health and limit carbon emissions.”

He went on in his fundraising pitch to attack Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson who has been nominated to be Trump’s Secretary of State.

“Together, Pruitt and Tillerson are two of the most anti-environmental, pro-polluter nominees our country has ever seen,” stated Brune who said the Sierra Club is working 24/7 to build a massive grassroots campaign against the two nominees.

“But no matter how smart and effective our campaign strategies, we need money to execute our plans.”

There is no indication from Brune how much money has been raised and how much will be spent on the campaign.
