More oil and gas wells are reported being completed and producing in Oklahoma’s popular and oil-rich STACK play.

As indicated on the completion reports published this week by OK Energy Today, producers were reported by Continental Resources, Devon Energy and Houston, Texas based Oklahoma Energy Acquisitions LP.

Most of the STACK wells came in with production less than 500 barrels a day, but still represent growing success in the three county production area of Blaine, Canadian and Kingfisher counties. The three firms reported five successful wells with the most productive pumping 474 barrels a day at a site drilled by Oklahoma Energy Acquisitions in Kingfisher county.

However, other wells were reported adjacent to the STACK. Newfield Exploration, the Houston, Texas company had one well in Dewey County just to the west of Blaine County and its initial production was 576 wells a day. The company also had a smaller producing well in Major County. Newfield in the past has indicated it intended to expand its exploration beyond the STACK and further into northwest Oklahoma.

Some of those companies are expanding their STACK operations. Newfield Exploration had four more permits approved this week in Blaine County and one more in nearby Dewey County.

A permit to drill in Kingfisher County was approved for Oklahoma Energy Acquisitions LP and for Gastar Exploration of Houston.
