Oklahoma oil billionaire Harold Hamm raked in $3 billion more this week when oil prices rose following OPEC’s decision to cut oil production by one percent beginning Jan. 1.

As Bloomberg News pointed out, “Harold Hamm, the wealthiest energy billionaire in the U.S. became $3 billion richer Wednesday morning when shares of his Continental Resources Inc. rallied as high as $10.58 a share during morning trading in New York, a 22 percent increase.”

Oil futures soared along with shares in energy companies as a result of the move by the Organization of Petroleum exporting Countries. Bloomberg noted that Hamm, an energy adviser to President-elect Donald J. Trump is now the world’s 66th richest person on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and has a net worth of $13.8 billion as of the close of trading on Tuesday.
