Oklahoma and federal agencies are reviewing data from the 4.5 magnitude Tuesday night earthquake near Pawnee to consider what recommendations to make regarding wastewater injection wells in the area.

“We started working early this morning with the EPA, as you know, they have jurisdiction over the Osage County operations and data,” said Matt Skinner, a spokesman with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission on Wednesday.

He said an Earthquake Review Team from the Commission’s Oil and Gas division is going over data from the quake that hit around 11:30 p.m.

“This quake was very close to Osage County as well and given its corrected location by the Geological Survey, we are working with the OGS and the EPA  as to what actions might have to be taken,” added Skinner.

“We have an eye toward seeing what kind of additions we should be taking or  further actions we should be taking in Pawnee in relation to this week. Obviously it’s premature at this point to speculate but we’re going to go where the data leads us,” said Skinner.
