Metro area drivers will have a new location to quickly charge their electric vehicles due to a pilot project and partnership between OG&E and convenience store chain, OnCue.

The level 3, DC fast charging high power station is located at OnCue, 1000 North Czech Hall Road in Yukon.

With the addition of the Yukon supercharging facility, Oklahoma has nine high power stations with more expected soon.

We are excited about partnering with OG&E to install OnCue’s first EV charger,” said Laura Aufleger, spokesperson for OnCue. “Collaboration and strategic partnerships like this enable Oklahomans the opportunity to embrace alternative fuels. Adding EV charging to Yukon grows our portfolio of domestically produced alternative fuels and further allows Oklahomans to use their fuel of choice.

The charging station is located on the south side of the store near the dog park. During the pilot period, customers will receive complimentary charging services. Basic data including time of day, length of use and how much energy is consumed, will be collected during the pilot and assist in evaluating and improving future EV infrastructure development, according to the joint press release.

“This partnership is symbolic of our commitment to facilitating the adoption of EVs across and even beyond our service area,” said Ken Grant, OG&E Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “When it comes to electric vehicle technology, OG&E is proud to have more than 20 years invested in EV exploration and engineering expertise, and to bolster our strong record of environmental stewardship.”

Oklahoma currently ranks 32nd among states in electric vehicle usage, with a 27 percent increase in electric vehicle registrations statewide between 2015 and 2016.
