Continental Resources Reports Success in the STACK

Continental Resources is reporting success in the STACK with two big wells, one producing more than 2,300 barrels of oil a day in Blaine county.

The LUDWIG was completed Sept. 25 following a spud date of March 22 and the end of drilling on June 12. Its completion showed production of 2,353 barrels of oil a day along with 6,086 Mcf of gas. The well is located several miles east of Watonga along State Highway 3.

A second LUDWIG well, located just a mile east of the larger well produced 1,501 barrels of oil equivalent when it was completed Sept. 19. Spud date was March 18 and drilling was finished on May 9.

The Ludwig wells are part of Continental’s density unit tests and the company still has 7 more wells as part of the tests. The original Ludwig had a 24-hour rate of 2,782 Boe per day with 76% oil, according to the company’s recent 3rd quarter earnings report. The report indicated drilling times averaged 25 days with a 36% reduction in time.

Continental’s quarterly report also indicated it still has four other test sites—-the Bernhardt Density, the Blurton Density, The Verona Density and the Gillian Density, all located in Blaine County.

Continental Resources reported two other wells in Grady County but their production was 800 and 678 barrels a day in production. The completion reports can be viewed at OK Energy Today.
