Airosol Plant Explosion Injured One in Neodesha, Kansas

A Tuesday morning explosion at the Airosol Plant in the southeast Kansas town of Neodesha left one worker injured and nearby homes evacuated.

Broadcast reports indicated the blast happened just after 6 a.m. at the plant that employs about 40 workers and is located in a building 100,000 square feet in size.

The Wilson County Kansas Emergency Management department issued a statement on Facebook, stating one worker was hurt and was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment.

Evacuations were ordered in areas near the plant. Crews from the Neodesha Fire and Law Enforcement, the Wilson County sheriff, Wildlife and Parks and the Montgomery County sheriff’s office responded to the incident.

Further details are not available. But the Airosol Company has been in operation for nearly 70 years, manufacturing and packaging aerosols and liquid products. The firm advertises that it has a product line of more than 100 aerosol, liquid and specialty chemicals for a variety of industries including automotive, industrial, janitorial and sanitation and electronic maintenance.

The company was established in 1943 and remains a privately-held corporation headquartered in Neodesha. The firm started with a focus on packaging insecticides and through the years developed product formulas in other sectors.
