Another big wind farm is planned for the Texas Panhandle, one to be located at 11,000 acres of land about 30 miles south of Amarillo.

Falvez Energy recently closed financing on the 163-megawatt wind farm planned for Randall, Castro and Deaf Smith counties, according to a report in the Amarillo Globe.

The company said the project will use 68 wind turbine generators and the main power transfer will be supplied by GE. The wind farm will sit on ranchland and farmland known to be the western part of the Competitive Renewable Energy Zone. The zone provides renewable energy for major transmission lines that serve eastern Texas including such cities as Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
