Oklahoma’s Rig Count Holds Steady…..Nation’s Count grows by 14

While the nation’s oil and gas rig count increased by 14 in the past week, the count in Oklahoma remained at 73 from last week, according to oilfield servicing company, Baker Hughes Inc. of Houston, Texas.

The U.S.  count reached 553 but is still 234 below last year’s count at this time of 787. So the nation’s count of oil rigs is still down 151 compared to a year ago and the number of gas rigs is down 190 from last year.

Canada’s oil and gas rig count dropped 22 in the past week, reaching 143. The country’s total count is still 47 below last year’s total of 190.

While Baker Hughes reports Kansas has no active oil and gas rigs, the Red Top Rig Report issued by the Independent Oil and Gas Service Company reports the state has 36 active rigs, a drop of one over the past week. Most of the active rigs are in western Kansas.

Colorado’s count slipped by one to reach 20.The count in Louisiana fell by two to hit 46. In New Mexico, the count added two to reach 34. North Dakota’s count stayed at 30. The count in Texas grew by 10, hitting 254.

Of the oil plays, the Granite Wash remained at 10 while the Mississippian added one, reaching a total of three.The Permian in west Texas added eleven, reaching a total of 212 active rigs.  The Eagle Ford in South Texas grew by two to reach 33. The Ardmore Woodford in Oklahoma remained at zero. The Arkoma Woodford remained at four.
