Oklahoma now has the lowest pump price average in the nation, according to the Fuel Gauge Report from AAA Oklahoma.

The State’s new average is $2.01 a gallon, a drop of 3 and a half cents in the past week.  Bartlesville and Lawton have the lowest averages of $1.89 each. For Lawton, that’s a 9 cent drop over the past week while the average in Bartlesville is 4 cents cheaper than one week ago.

They are among 10 cities across the state with averages under $2 a gallon. Stillwater is highest at $2.16 a gallon while prices are at an average of $2.10 a gallon in Guymon. Tulsa’s average is $1.93, a price equaled by Fort Smith, Arkansas and only beaten by Canton-Massillon, Ohio for the lowest in the U.S. The average in Oklahoma City is $1.99.

“The stars appear aligned to bring about relatively low gas prices right on through the end of the year,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “Demand is down, refineries have successfully switched to making cheaper-to-produce winter-grade gasoline and worldwide supplies are still quite good.”

Arkansas has the second lowest average in the U.S. at $2.02 followed by Missouri at $2.03.

The national average price at the pump fell in 15 of the last 16 days for a total drop of four cents a gallon. The average nationally sits at $2.22 a gallon.
