Ethanol Exports Saw Increase in August

U.S. ethanol exports rose 12% in August compared to July according to government trade data analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association.

The exports totaled 77.9 million gallons as Brazil increased its purchases of U.S. product by 65% over July, thereby making up 32% of the total exports. Canada and India also increased their purchases—-Canada buying 20.9 million gallons while Indian purchased 14 million gallons.

Year-to-date exports stood at 594.3 million gallons. However the August exports of U.S. denatured fuel ethanol fell 10% from July to 19.8 million gallons.

Also seeing an increase in the export side of the economy was U.S. distillers dried grains with solubles, which is the animal feed co-product from the dry mill ethanol production. They rose 6% from July to August to reach 1.160 million metric tons. China was the top market for the U.S. exports for the fourth month in a row, receiving 262,201 metric tons. However, China’s share of the U.S. DDGS export market had fallen from 33% in July to 23% in August.
