Those opponents of the Apex Clean Energy wind farm near Kingfisher certainly had a different reaction from supporters after an Oklahoma City federal judge ruled against a lawsuit that wanted the operation shutdown.

“We received the Court’s ruling and are pleased with the judgment being entered in favor of Kingfisher Wind,” said the company following the ruling by U.S. District Judge timothy D,. DeGiusti. “The Court agreed with our position that there is no reasonable probability an injury will occur as a result of the wind farm’s operation and that Plaintiffs’ claims are ‘speculative at best’.”

Apex said it’s committed to operating the 11,000-acre wind farm in a safe, responsible fashion and providing clean, inexpensive electricity directly into the Oklahoma grid.

“Producing no emissions and using no water, wind energy is one of the healthiest, most cost-effective sources of electricity available, and the ruling in this case affirms that,” continued the firm.

As OK Energy Today reported earlier, the 149-turbine wind farm is owned by First Reserve Corp. and operated by Apex Clean Energy Inc.

First Reserve has been in business 32 years focusing on private equity and infrastructure investment in energy. The investments total $31 billion involving nearly 600 transactions creating energy companies. The portfolio companies operate on six continents spanning the energy spectrum from upstream oil and gas to midstream and downstream and wind power.
