Actress Shailene Woodley was one of those arrested this week while protesting the Dakota Access oil pipeline in North Dakota. The Associated Press reported that the “Divergent” star was arrested for criminal trespass and engaging in a riot during a protest at a construction site that involved nearly 300 people in Morton County.

She was one of 27 people arrested during the protests at two construction sites. The charges are misdemeanors that carry a maximum punishment of 30 days in jail and a fine totaling $1,500.

The Army Corps of Engineers is asking Energy Transfer Partners to stop construction and respect the government’s earlier request. It also says it won’t authorize construction of the four-state pipeline on federal land in southern North Dakota.

But North Dakota’s congressional delegation and the Laborers International Union are supporting a federal appeals court ruling that allows the construction to continue within 20 miles of Lake Oahe in the state.

The Standing rock Sioux Tribe continues appealing the court ruling.
