Recent layoffs at Linde Engineering North America affected 25 workers at the company’s Tulsa-based operations, according to a report by The Tulsa World.

In a brief company statement, Linde indicated the decision was made based on continued economic challenges and the need to better align resources to serve customers.

The company confirmed on Friday that Linde reduced around 8 percent of its North American workforce. Those affected by the layoffs were provided with outplacement services and severance packages, according to a company statement.

Linde Engineering North America just expanded its operations at the Port of Catoosa in Tulsa. Linde’s workforce is a combined 330 people in both its Tulsa office located at 61st Street and Yale Avenue and the new fabrication complex at the Port of Catoosa.

Linde Engineering North America is a single-source technology, engineering, procurement and construction firm with expertise in gas processing, refining and liquefied natural gas.

Last month, Linde AG and Praxair Inc. began merger talks to possibly combine two of the world’s largest providers of industrial gas products.
