Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corporation has received a new subpoena from the U.S. Department of Justice, according to a report published in The Oklahoman.

In its Form 8-K filed on Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Chesapeake disclosed the company received a DOJ subpoena seeking information on its accounting methodology for the acquisition and classification of oil and gas properties and related matters.

“We have engaged in discussions with the DOJ, U.S. Postal Service and state agency representatives and continue to respond to such subpoenas and demands,” Chesapeake said in the filing.

The oil and gas company previously disclosed receipt of various subpoenas from state agencies as well as the U.S. Department of Justice seeking data related to investigations into possible violations of federal and state antitrust laws concerning the purchase and lease of oil and natural gas rights.
