Baker Hughes Rig Count: Oklahoma Adds Three New Rigs While U.S. Drops by Two

Oklahoma led the way last week with three new rigs while the U.S. rig count fell by two, according to the Baker Hughes rig count released on Friday.

Canada lost two rigs for a total of 132. Canada is down 50 rigs when compared with data from a year ago.

The U.S. rig count deceased by two to reach 506 active rigs. Overall, the U.S. is down 336 rigs from last year’s figures.

Oklahoma added three rigs last week, bringing the cumulative number of active rigs to 65. Overall, Oklahoma’s rig count is down 41 rigs from last year’s count of 106.

Louisiana fell by two rigs last week for a total of 41. Texas lost a rig for a total of 244 active rigs while North Dakota also lost a rig for a total of 27.

The Permian basin saw an increase of two rigs for a current total of 202, but is still down by 51 compared to last year’s rig count.

The Arkoma Woodford, Cana Woodford and DJ-Niobrara areas increased rig counts by one last week.

The Haynesville and Williston plays saw a loss of one rig each.
