The Williams Companies, Inc. announced on Friday that its Board has extended the deadline to August 25, 2016 for stockholders to nominate candidates for election to the company’s Board of Directors at its 2016 Annual Meeting. The original deadline was July 18, 2016.
“Williams is seeking additional highly qualified director candidates and is committed to maintaining a world-class Board comprised of directors with a broad range of skills and experience,” according to the press release.
Williams previously announced last week that its 2016 Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. It is anticipated that the Board will modify the company’s bylaws in order to reduce the number of directors in the wake of four Board resignations following the acrimonious fallout of the failed merger between Williams and Dallas-based Energy Transfer Equity.
