Dems Target Oil and Gas but Take Their Money to Hold National Convention

As OK Energy Today pointed out this week, the Democratic Party’s 2016 platform takes a hard stand for ‘green’ energy and against oil, but as the Daily Caller noted, guess who’s not afraid to take big oil money for the political campaigns.

That’s right, the Democratic party. Among those listed as sponsored of the national convention in Philadelphia were Chevron, Sunoco and Vote4Energy.org, an industry-backed advocacy group.

“Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has been heavily criticized by activists for taking money from the oil industry and the leaders of petro-states. A Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found the Clinton Foundation, which is run by Clinton and her husband former President Bill Clinton, took $100 million from Persian Gulf sheikhs.,” reported the Daily Caller.

Yet in the middle of the Democratic platform were stands against the oil and gas industry such as, a call to eliminate ‘special tax breaks and subsidies for fossil fuel companies” and putting a price on “carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases.”

The platform also calls for “closing the Halliburton loophole that stripped the Environmental Protection Agency of its ability to regulate hydraulic fracturing.”

It also declared, “We believe hydraulic fracturing should not take place where states and local communities oppose it. We will reduce methane emissions from all oil and gas production and transportation by at least 40 to 45 percent below 20035 levels by 2025 through common-sense standards.”
