It’s about two and a half months off, but work’s underway for the 20th Oil and Gas Expo in Oklahoma City sponsored by the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board and its organization called Sustaining Oklahoma’s Energy Resources.

“Despite the downturn in the oil and gas industry, we’re still expecting a full crowd for the anniversary show,” said David Guest of Guest Petroleum. “We expect upwards of 3,000 attendees for the one-day show.”

The expo will be held Thursday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Cox building of the State Fairgrounds.

“This will be a great opportunity for those who attend to see who’s still around,” added Guest.  “It’s an excellent opportunity to network.”

He called it a vitally important show for those in the industry.

“The expo gives an opportunity for exhibitors to bring in new equipment, technology, processes and put them on display.”

Guest, who is a third generation oil and gas operator thinks the general public no doubt realizes with the downtown that many things in their lives come from oil and gas.  From switching on electricity to uses the plastic toothbrush, he says oil and gas is more than getting people from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’.
