Facing five lawsuits and being accused of causing earthquakes in the state, Tulsa-based New Dominion LLC has gone to court against underwriters Lloyd’s of London.
The company filed suit in Tulsa County District court claiming the company and Mark Tedford and his firm, Tedford & Associates LLC misled the firm about earthquake damage and whether it was covered under its pollution policy, according to a report in The Journal Record.
The newspaper says Tedford allegedly told New Dominion it should switch to National American Insurance Co. because its policies would cover damages in earthquake-related lawsuits. New Dominion purchased its pollution insurance coverage from Lloyd’s in July 2014.
The company claims it informed Lloyd’s after each lawsuit filed over earthquake damages but Lloyd’s denied the claims.
As the Journal Record indicated, the New Dominion lawsuit could lead to other suits by other energy companies regarding coverage by insurance policies.
