With oil prices hitting at least $50 a barrel prior to dropping to $48 this week, oil drilling activity produced numerous healthy-producing hits in northwest Oklahoma, the area commonly called the “STACK.”

Continental Resources had the largest well—the Verona that produced 2,345 barrels a day along with 5,966 Mcf of gas at a Blaine County site midway between Watonga and Kingfisher. It’s an active area of the Mississippian Play along State Highway 3. The well had an Oct. 16, 2015 spud date. Drilling was finished Dec. 1, 2015 and completion was finally carried out May 3, 2016.

But Newfield Exploration continues to reap the benefits of its continued exploration in that area of the state. For instance, a Batt well producing 566 barrels of oil a day along with 1,109 Mcf of gas was hit two miles southeast of the town of Loyal in Kingfisher County. The spud date was in November of last year with drilling finished in January and completion in February.

Newfield brought in a Blaine county Jim well that produced 529 barrels a day along with 1,669 Mcf three miles southeast of Hitchcock. The spud date was January 6 followed by the end of drilling on Feb. 5 and completion on Feb 25.

Devon Energy brought in a 793 a barrel a day oil well three miles northeast of Okarche in Kingfisher County. the Champagne well also produced 1,039 Mcf of gas and had a spud date of March 12 with drilling finished March 27 and completion May 11.

But there are others. Newfield brought in another Kingfisher County well that produced 787 barrels and 1,343 Mcf of gas three miles southeast of Loyal. Drilling on the Mike well started in December, finished in February and completion was in March. Newifled had an 818-barrel a day well seven miles southeast of Loyal in Kingfisher county. The Storm well produced 413 Mcf of gas after drilling started last October and finished in November. Completion was Jan. 20, 2016.

Newfield had two other wells in Kingfisher county. The Judy produced 864 barrels of oil and 3,150 Mcf of gas at a site five miles southeast of the Chisholm Trail Vocational center. Spud date was in November of 2015. Drilling finished in January and the completion was in March. The remaining Newfield well, the Storm, was northwest of Kingfisher and produced 818 barrels of oil a day along with 413 Mcf of gas. Spud date was last October and drilling wrapped up in November. Completion was in January.
