Tulsa Breaks Ground for Second CNG Refueling Station

The city of Tulsa broke ground this week on a second CNG refueling station for its city fleet of CNG powered vehicles and for public use.

The site is located in East Tulsa on East 33rd street near the I-44/Broken Arrow Expressway Interchange. The new refueling site has a $2 million price tag on it and the station won’t be ready until sometime next year.

It will give the city workers who drive CNG vehicles, including Transit buses, another place to refuel. Tulsa already has a CNG refueling site in the west side of the city.

City officials say the CNG station will not only help keep the environment clean but also reduce city fueling costs by an estimated $20,000 a year. The city has 52 CNG vehicles and 121 hybrid vehicles in its fleet.
