Oklahoma Gasoline Averages $2.13 a gallon, but Texas Flooding Might Affect Prices

Gasoline prices in Oklahoma continue holding at an average of $2.13 a gallon, according to the latest price survey from AAA Oklahoma. It is the same price as one week ago. Nationally, the average is $2.36 a gallon a increase of four cents a gallon since last week’s Memorial Day Holiday.

“The state average has apparently found a home at $2.13,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “The benchmark has changed little over the last 12 days, contrary to what the national price average has been doing.”

Oklahoma’s cheapest prices are found in Guymon and Tulsa where the average is $2.03 and $2.05 respectively. Guymon’s average is a drop of 2 cents a gallon in the past week while the average in Tulsa is 5 cents lower over the past several days.

The state’s highest prices are found in Stillwater where the average is $2.19, a penny higher over the past week. Altus has an average of $2.17 a gallon, a drop of about two cents. Oklahoma City prices are at an average of $2.14, up two cents.

But nine cities in the state will have an average price under $2.10. AAA Oklahoma spokesman Mai said the slight increase across the country is blamed on tightening supply combined with strong demand for gasoline. Drivers across the U.S. are paying 14 cents a gallon more than one month ago.

The demand comes as motorists are taking to the roads at a record-setting pace and gasoline demand remains on target to reach unprecedented highs during this year’s summer driving season.

AAA Oklahoma indicated that pump prices in Oklahoma still could be affected because of flooding in Texas. The flooding prompted the closure of Magellan Midstream Partner’s pipeline which transports products from Gulf Coast refineries to distribution terminals in Texas and it could be out of service for nearly two weeks.

If you’re traveling across the U.S., you’ll five the cheapest gasoline in South Carolina where the average is $2.10 but other states are close to the low price including Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.

The highest-priced gasoline is in California, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington and Michigan. The average in California is $2.83 a gallon.
