Senate Committee to Explore Impact of Court Stay on Clean Power Plan

The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee chaired by Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe plans a hearing in the coming week exploring the implications of the U.S. Supreme Court stay on the EPA’s Clean Power Plan.

The hearing will be held Thursday, June 9 at 8:30 a.m. Oklahoma time. The committee announcement said the purpose of the hearing is to hear from states, legal professionals and related stakeholders. It was Feb. 9 when the Supreme Court stayed the Clean Power Plan and now the Senators on the Committee want to explore the stay’s impacts on states and other groups.

Among those testifying will be Michael McInnes, CEO of Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc; Missouri State rep. Jack Bandon; Allison Wood, a partner in Hunton & Williams, LLP; Richard Revesz, a Lawrence King Professor of Law and Dean Emeritus and Director of the Institute for Policy Integrity at New York University’s School of law; and Katie Dykes, Deputy Commissioner for Energy at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
