Trump’s Energy Plan is Panned by Washington Post Editors

Donald Trump’s energy plan that he released last week is being panned rather badly by editors of the Washington Post. They describe it as “illogical” and putting all of your eggs in one supply basket.

Writing this week, the editorial board of the Post said Trump’s vision on energy starts with the wrong premise that the country’s politicians have sold out the American people.

“Setting “energy independence as an overriding policy goal is a policy mistake of long standing in Washington,” said the editors. “In fact it is far less risky to participate in the global market than to erect barriers to energy imports or ban them entirely.”

“The best way to insulate the country from oil price volatility would be to make the economy less dependent on oil, but Mr. trump has no interest in doing so,” concluded the editors.
