Baker Hughes Rig Count: Oklahoma Adds Two Rigs Last Week

The U.S. rig count remained unchanged at 404, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday.

Leading the pack with the largest gain in North America, Oklahoma added two rigs last week, bringing the cumulative number of active rigs to 59. A year ago, Oklahoma had 106 rigs.

Louisiana gained one rig while Kansas and North Dakota both lost one active rig for the week.

Canada is down by one rig to 43.

The Granite Wash basin, covering Beckham, Greer, Kiowa and Washita counties in western Oklahoma, saw an increase of two rigs for a current total of six, but is still down by ten compared to the rig count last year.

Arkoma Woodford, Haynesville and Utica rig counts increased by one last week.

The Eagle Ford shale play in south Texas’ western gulf basin saw the greatest decrease, losing two rigs. Eagle Ford operates 29 rigs, down from last year’s count of 110.
