Rig Counts in Oklahoma and U.S. Decline in Past Week

Oklahoma and the U.S. dropped again in oil and gas rig counts in the past week, Oklahoma dropping by one to reach 56 and the nation losing 9 more rigs, falling to a total of 406, according to figures released by Baker Hughes.

Nationally, the drop included ten more oil rigs over the past week.  Compared to one year ago, the national rig count has plummeted 492 from 888. The loss in the past year has included 342 oil rigs and 136 gas rigs.

Oklahoma’s loss of one in the past week leaves 56 working rigs compared to the 103 one year ago.

Colorado remained at 15 in the past week and Kansas was steady at four. The count in North Dakota declined by one to reach 24. New Mexico added two to reach 18. Texas dropped by 7 to hit 181 compared to the 373 working rigs last year at this time.

Of the oil and gas plays, Oklahoma’s Woodfords had 3 rigs, a drop of one compared to the 12 rigs one year ago.

The Granite Wash is at four while a year ago, it had16. The Mississippian Lime is at 5, a decline of one in the past week. The Permian Basin in west Texas is at 134, a drop of 5. The Eagle Ford in south Texas is at 33, a loss of one rig.oilrig
