EDF Energies Expands Operations to Off-Shore French Wind Farms

Paris-based EDF Energies, the company that is providing electrical power to Google from its northwest Oklahoma wind farm has just announced a new partnership agreement with Enbridge Inc. to operate three French offshore wind farms totaling 1,400 MW of installed capacity. Through the agreement, Enbridge acquires a 50 percent stake in Eolien Maritime France, the firm that controls the three future offshore wind farms.

EDF Energies Nouvelles and Enbridge will be co-owners of EMF. Over the past four years, EDF Energies Nouvelles and Enbridge have been successful in the operation of four wind farms in Canada with an installed capacity of 830 MW.

EDF’s Oklahoma operation is the Great Western Wind Project in Woodward and Ellis Counties where construction started earlier this year. It is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year comprising 81 wind turbines. The full output of the 201 MW project will go toward supply Google’s data center in Pryor.
