Warren Buffet’s $3.6 Billion Wind Farm Plan in Iowa

Billionare Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway has decided to invest billions more into the wind industry, coming up with a $3.6 billion plan in the state of Iowa. It’s there Buffet’s MidAmerican Energy will build a massive wind farm with the capacity of 2K MW, the biggest economic development project in Iowa history. Iowa already gets more of its power from wind than any other U.S. state…31 percent.

Buffett’s project, known as Wind XI, will boost the share to 40 percent. However, it must also win approval by state regulators before any construction can get underway. And if the project is built, it would increase the state’s total wind resource by 50 percent to 6K MW when finished in 2020.

Berkshire Hathway is considered to be the third-largest U.S. wind farm owner.
