Solar Tax Credit Cap in New Mexico to be Hit by July

New Mexico’s solar tax credit program has proven so successful again that state officials predict the $3 million cap will be reached by the end of July this year. Energy conservation officials have been handling a flood of applications for the 10-percent tax credit.

The cap has been reached for each of the last four years. Some legislators argued to extend the incentive through 2024, but the measure stalled in the last session of the New Mexico legislature. Opponents cited budget concerns for not wanting to approve the extension.
